Earth hour at Las Carretas

28th March 2009...

"I got to know one of a very nice Mexican in KL. Let us dine at this restaurant this weekend." Told CH to two of his friends.

This restaurant called Las Carretas. It makes decent and fine Mexican delicacy.

Let's start the dinner!

Magarita is never been forgotten for a Mexican dinner. They order a pitcher!

Nachos is never to be left out too! They've made a flavourful and interesting one.

Another CH's favourite, Mussel in Coriander and Habanero. The stock is just irresistable. CH usually end it up by wiping the bottom of the bowl with the "bread"(or tortilla) given.

Mushroom soup with white truffle oil. CH wished to apply the same method of finishing up this soup like the earlier one. The white truffle oil is quite similar to smell of "petrol". CH is just simply loving it.

Let's take part in the Earth Hour. Save our earth.

The Wagyu cheek is served after that. I think CH doesn't need to explain much about this. The tenderness of the meat is just unbelievable. The meat can be splitted by pressing it by your tongue. The meat was a fat and juicy one.

CH had the Veal Zurichoise.
"Sautéed Strips of Veal Striploin Tossed with Button Mushrooms & Accompanied with Dauphinoise Potato, Romaine LettucePerfumed with Olive Oil, Rocket Lettuce & Shaved Romano Cheese." as describe in the menu. The veal meat is unbelievably soft and tender as well.

Karen had the beef fajitas.

"Their vegetables are really a fresh one. And the beef is nicely cooked."

The dinner end with:"We will definitely come back to this restaurant again, is there any outlet in KL city?"

Yes, they do. More info please go to http://www.lascarretas.com/.

Lunch @ Las Carretas

12 February 2008....

CH went to Las Carretas againfor lunch with some friends to celebrate the CNY.

They ordered the Barossa's Turkey Flat Grenache 2004 with decanter. It was rich and sweet.

The appetizer: Oyster with Wasabe & Sautéed Spinach "Forestiere" from the menu of the month. It came free with purchase of any wine from the restaurant.

CH took the Costilla De Cordero, the NZ Lamp Loin chops with mint sauce, salad with italian dressing and baked potato.

CH didn't know the price. Thanks to the one who paid the bill, and gong xi fatt chai to him!

*coming up next: The "melt-in-the-mouth wagyu's cheek"

New Year Eve @ Las Carretas

Just a click on eye is already new year 2008. Very lucky that I wasn't alone on 2008 new year eve. Actually can't really remember where I spend my new year eve last year(31/12/2006). As I talk to many of friends, it is quite surprised that everybody also feel year 2007 gone thru very fast like what I feel. Maybe 2007 is a busy year for everybody, which is good for everyone of us.
Our original plan for this party is only 6 person, which is eddy, woody, ah sien & sien and me & luna. Very surprising that the number keep snowballing. And there're totally 12 person attend the party on that night. Which gave the waiter a hard time to squeeze out additional table and chair for us.

We went to the Las Carretas @ Damansara Height. We are practicing "share the food and share the bill", which enable everyone to try out as many as possible kind of foods served in this Mexican Restaurant.

The first appetizer: Nachos with Shredded Chicken. The Tortilla Chips mix with the shredded chicken and topped with melt cheese. Quite similar to the one I've had in Italy.

Second to come is the Mussels In Coriander & Habanero. The most attracting part for this dish goes to the spicy soup. I still can remember that I've ordered 2 basket of garlic bread for them to dip with the soup, and already finish by my fellow "frens" before I manage to grab any bread.

I was told by the waiter if their Margarita is best in town, if not, he will chop-off his head. The waiter manages to save his head after all.

Third Starter: Senor Pablo Salad, quite impressed by what they called "Pablo" dressing. (With luna's red finger nail on the top left).

The main Course:

1) Taco: Two Pieces of Fried Corn Tortilla Filled With Minced Beef

2) Chimicanga: Crisp Fried Tortilla Bursting With Plenty Of Cheese, Minced Beef Or Chicken, & Topped With Enchilada Sauce Guacamole And Sour Cream. Yummy yummy Crispy Tortilla.

3) Beef Backrib: Marinated With Chili, Jalapenos & Our Unique Blend Of Seasoning & Char-Broiled To Perfection. "A must try" says CH Tan after Tunku Razman.

4) Fajitas : Something like Mexico version of Local Po-Piah. The Stuff include Cajun Flavoured Chicken/Sliced Beef Steak, mexican rice, vege, Sour Cream, Salsa, Guacamole, Cheese And remember to wrap it with the "po-piah", the warm Tortilla.

There're some nice dish which I didn't manage to take photo, which is a must try also:

1) Oyster Originale : Freshly-flown in from N.Z.. Try to ask the kitchen for "sambal"!

2) Charbroiled US ( Choice ) Corn-Fed Rib-eye: Recommended to serve medium rare, feel the juice of the steak!

3) Fois Gras: The goose liver. Can be served as appetizer or topped on the steak.

A good food always has to be shared with others. Let everyone enjoy the food as how you like it.
To all my friends that night: Luna, Eddy, Woody, Ah Sien, Peggy, Ah Mei, Tyng Yan, Wen Yao, Wai Kuan, Hui Mei, Xin Tong, and whoever I know but unable to attend our gathering/new year dinner, Happy New Year 2008! It's great to know you, and be with you all that night!
