Food in Muar

18 February 2008....

Today, CH and his colleague went down to Muar for outstation and and spend over night in Muar. After work, CH and colleague went to hunt for Muar local famous food.

One the right of the pics is the well-known Muar Otak-otak. It is the fish/prawn cake baked with various spicy and coconut milk to make it taste impressive.
One the left of the pics is the not well-known white bread. The bread selling in Muar was really soft and elastic. Try to eat the bread with the otak-otak, or take it with the Kaya selling together with the bread. I bet you will like it.

After that is the famous Muar Dry whole-egg noodle. The mixture of the dry noodle in Muar was different from KL. It taste more fragrant with the oil, and less salty. The char siew is the most interesting part. The char siew is really soft. Try it, and you will know.

Another local specialty is the Mee Bandung. This mee usually only available in Malay restaurant. The gravy was really rich with seafood flavour and very thick. Not like the one in KL which only a simply thin gravy with sweet and salty taste.
