My Elephant Thai Cusine @ PJ Section 17

2nd day of 2008, The Thirsty Trio and gang were out hunting for food.
One of our friends have not tried the food in 6 to 10 Grill located at PJ Section 17. So we decided to bring that friend to have a taste of 6 to 10. Unluckily, 6 to 10 Grill was closed that day. And our big bro (chtan) suggested us to try out My Elephant wich is at the opposite block of 6 to 10 Grill. After some discussion, all finally agreed and give it a try.
My Elephant serves Thai food. Most of the well known Thai dishes were served here. The outlook of the restaurant is a unique one. It does not ressemble a Thai restaurant at all. Looks like a well renovated, mirror walled, black and white setting. Look more like a Western Cusine than a Thai Cusine. In side, the atmosphere is not bad. Jus lack of proper air conditioning. The corner that we sat was not circulated by cool air....
But our intention was not the atmosphere, we were there for the food!
We were refreshed by a cup of Krachiap (a type of cordial red in colour, taste abit like rose syrup with less sugar) each.

For appetizer:
Mieng Kum
A very unique dish of appetizer.
Kadok leaves as the base for you to fill up all the other ingredients (dried shrimps, roast peanut, grated coconut, chopped onion, ginger and chillies and a sweet & sour chilli paste). Wrap all the ingridients up like a popiah and eat up. Quite tasty!

Mango Yum
Typical Thai Mango Salad with mix vege, taugeh, prawns and most important mango!
Very tasty indeed.

Main Course:
Deep Fried Vegetables
One of my favorite Thai dish. But This is done quite differently. Normal deep fried vege is deep fried Kangkung. But this is a mix of variety of vegetables such as lotus root, long beans and prawns.

Fried Boneless Chicken
The texture of the chicken is very soft. Fried together with some spice leaves gives a special taste and flavouring to the chicken.

Gaeng Keow Wan
Or Green Curry is the best here. It is not too spicy and the level of cream is just perfect. Cooked togther with spice leaves and fresh pepper seeds, the aroma is just too good to be said.

Plah Nung Manow
Thai style steamed fish. This came last of our meal. Most of us was full and not much comments were made for the fish. Steamed with spice and herbs and topped with chilli, garlic, ginger and limau purut. The fish taste well with aroma.

Overall, we gave My Elephant a decent rating. The food taste well, service was good and price tag is well valued. Not forgotten, the food is served quite fast. So, if next time you are in PJ Section 17 and you are finding or Thai Cusine, might as well stop by My Elephant and give it a shot. It will be a place you will like to go there for a second round.
Cheers,
Eddy - 7/1/08

Oh ya, CH Tan always like to eat thai food because of it's spiciness and fragrance.

CH Tan is a kelantanese and his home is 30 minutes-drive away from Thailand. Therefore Always have chance to savour the "Originale" Thai food. Thaifood is the dinner that not going to be missed everytime CH back to Kelantan.

The My Elephant quite simple and nicely decorated. Is a good place to have gathering with friends or family dinner.

Air-cond really "under capacity", and the restaurant should pay more caution to the freshness of the fish.

Overall, the food is more than OK, and price is reasonable.
