Food at Golok, Thailand

1 February 08...

CH decided to bring Luna to visit Golok in Thailand again to share his food hunting experience in Golok.

Golok is just 30 minutes drive from Kota Bharu. After clearing the crowded and messy immigration, they reached City Centre of Golok.

Golok is a hot place. Therefore, immediately after they reach City of Golok, they went to have a bowl of "Longcong". Long-cong in Kelantan Languague means "all". It mean put all the ingredient into the bowl with coconut milk cooked with pandan and mix with shaved-ice. This stuff really can cool down their heaty body.

After that they started their shopping over there. Shopping in Golok was also a surprising one. Luna surprisingly found some nice fashioned cloth over there, CH’s mum and dad surprisingly found a very nice house decorative at the shop at the corner. CH’s surprisingly got his new year 2008 present from Luna over there also. And CH also found the insulative coffee cup he has been looking for so long overthere.

After the lengthy tiring shopping, is time to have lunch. They went to the usual restaurant they have their lunch.

1st : The “Kuey-Teow-Pak”, which mean Friend Kuey Teow in Thai. Kuey Teow Pak in Thailand is a must try. The ingredient they used to fried kuey teow is different from Malaysia, and thus, produced different flavoured fried kuey teow.

2nd : The mix pork soup. Consist of Pork Meat, Pig Blood, Pig Colon, Pig Pancreas, Pig Liver. Thai used to served it accompanied with 4 types of sauces and powder for you to mix with the soup.

3rd : The Pork Knuckle rice. Another “must-try” recommendation from CH. The Pork Knuckle is nicely cooked. The meat is tender and the pork knuckle soup was full of pork-flavored. It served with the pickle vegetable, what a best combination.

4th : The kampong chicken, Pork Ball, fried pork slices, Waxed Pork Sausages, and chicken liver. Remember to dip the chicken with the special made spicy sour sauce.

End : End your meal with the kopi-o “peng”. What a wonderful and satisfying meal.

All the above dishes with 4 plates of Pork Knuckle Rice only cost them RM42.00. Golok is still full of surprise!
